Abstract

Isolated resection of segment 1 is a parenchyma-sparing technique that can be used for the resection of benign or malignant tumors confined to this segment. The method of resection of segment 1 is described in relation with its complex anatomical features. Special attention is paid to prevention of damage to the hilar bile ducts and major hepatic veins during the procedure.
