Closed reduction of fractured anterior wall of the frontal bone

J Craniofac Surg. 2005 Jan;16(1):120-2. doi: 10.1097/00001665-200501000-00023.

Abstract

The authors report two cases of closed reduction of the anterior wall of the frontal bone. In the first case, the fractured segment was successfully reduced with a small periosteal elevator. In the second case, a tip of the periosteal elevator was broken during maneuvering the fractured bone and lost into the sinus cavity. The sinus was opened to retrieve the broken piece and repaired by internal fixation. The technique has a few merits: (1) the procedure is simple; (2) the operation time is short; and (3) only a small incision is needed.
