A discrete-time model for the spread of periodic diseases without immunity

Abstract

We investigate the properties of a discrete-time model for the spread of an infectious disease that does not confer permanent immunity. The contact rate is assumed to be constant. Our major result is that oscillations occur in the levels of the diseased population. The consequences of vaccination are also studied.
