Abstract

The first therapeutic option for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is systematic liver resection. Recent advances in operation techniques and peri-operative management have contributed to enlarging the indications of liver resection for HCC, and served to improve the long-term survival. Only liver resection can be a curative treatment for HCC with portal venous tumor thrombus.
