Abstract

Vermiform appendix (VA) is characterized by great variability of its location and morphology. Acute inflammatory changes are the most frequent cause of surgical abdominal interventions. Inflammation of atypically located VA may imitate inflammation of other organs, which leads to diagnostic errors. Based on anatomical and clinical data, especially those concerning location variability, different anatomical variations of VA are presented.
