[Cardiotoxicity of antineoplastic drugs]

Abstract

Anticancer drugs, especially anthracyclines, may induce adverse cardiac effects which can be life-threatening in some patients. In this article we discuss the mechanisms and the types of cardiotoxicity and its prevention, with special attention paid to the role of monitoring of the cardiovascular system during chemotherapy.
