Learning the codes of fly immunity

Mol Cell. 2004 Jan 16;13(1):1-2. doi: 10.1016/s1097-2765(03)00525-2.

Abstract

Insect antimicrobial response serves as an excellent model for studying human innate immunity. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Senger and colleagues demonstrate that a large number of immunity genes in Drosophila fat bodies can be regulated by a simple code, REL-GATA.
