Overweight and obese are major health concerns owing to the complex co-morbidities that inevitably follow. Diet and exercise are the primary means by which people attempt to lose weight. A recent study in an obese mouse model suggested that angiogenesis inhibitors, which are designed to inhibit tumor growth, are able to reduce adipose tissue mass by cutting off the blood supply. This approach may have application in the prevention and treatment of obesity by using foods with antiangiogenic potential.
