Abstract

A case of aspergillous encephalitis in a diabetic patient with acute sinusitis is presented. MRI investigation revealed characteristic changes in the brain and skull bones, including these of face and skull base. Despite a radical surgery of the sinuses and early treatment with Amphotericin B, the disease progressed rapidly and was fatal. Post-mortem neuropathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of encephalitis caused by aspergillosis.
