Telomerase inhibitors: forcing the end to put an end

Drug News Perspect. 2000 Sep;13(7):389-94. doi: 10.1358/dnp.2000.13.7.671717.

Abstract

The role of telomerase as a critical enzyme for immortalization and oncogenic transformation has attracted efforts to develop molecules that specifically inhibit the activity of this enzyme and interfere with the growth of many types of cancer. The potential implications of the unique dynamics of telomerase function and the impact on the development of inhibitory drugs are discussed.
