PIP: Gossypol has been applied during clinical experiments throughout China and the results of its applications have been quite satisfactory. The process of extracting and purifying gossypol is costly, poisonous, and complicated. Various methods of large-scale extraction of gossypol from cotton seeds through the use of a 75-78% liquid acetone solution are discussed as well as some improvements on the methods currently used for purification of gossypol.
