PIP: "Since 1995 Statistics Netherlands identifies persons with a foreign background in two ways. The method used here identifies a person as foreign if he or she is born abroad or if one of his parents is born abroad. According to [this] method a person is foreign if he or she and at least one parent is born abroad, or, if this person is born in the Netherlands, both parents are born abroad.
