It is the authors' opinion that surgery after the E. V. Smirnov technic yields favourable results in uncomplicated forms of chronic duodenal obstruction. If the latter is associated with diseases of the pancreas and liver, then better results seem to be provided by the A. P. Mirzaev and Strong operation. Less satisfactory issues were gained while constructing gastro-enteroanastomosis and accomplishing pyloropexy to the round hepatic ligament. These operations should be of somewhat limited use in case of chronic duodenal obstruction. The results of clinical observations are described.
