Abstract

Cataract surgery has a moderate lowering effect on the intraocular pressure. When glaucoma seems controlled by medication, phacoemulsification gives a chance of improving the situation. Those eyes are most likely to get an intraocular pressure rise by retention of visco-elastic substance.
