1. There are many types of elder abuse, some of which are never recognized or reported. 2. Medical neglect is a type of elder abuse in health care. 3. Nurses in all health care settings need to be aware of signs and symptoms of elder abuse and take action as indicated. 4. Suspected elder abuse must legally and ethically be reported to the appropriate supervisor and state agencies.
