[Histopathological dynamic observation on mice infected by experimental Sparganum mansoni]

Abstract

Objective: To observe dynamically the histopathological changes of mice infected with Sparganum mansoni.

Methods: The mice were infected orally by Sparganum mansoni collected from Rana nigromaculatus (3 strips/mouse), and 2-10 weeks later, the mice were sacrificed for histopathological observation.

Results: Sparganum mansoni was found in the skin, muscle, and abdominal cavity of mice. There were diffuse congested spots and capsule formation. Fat tissue appeared severe degeneration and necrosis, and fibrous tissue appeared moderate proliferation of enveloping the adipose tissue, with a large number of neutrophilic mainly acute and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration and more abscess formation, and so on.

Conclusions: Sparganum mansoni parasitizes mainly in subcutaneous and muscle of mice. The organizations of mice infected with Sparganum mansoni would appear different degrees of histopathological changes.
