Am J Forensic Med Pathol. 1993 Sep;14(3):257-61.

Abstract

The medical examiner system was introduced to Japan by the general headquarters of the Allied powers after World War II; however, as of now, this system serves only four regions (23 wards in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, and Kobe). The Tokyo Medical Examiner's Office is the largest of the four, and this report presents its activities.
