Radiosurgery has been effective in the treatment of otherwise inaccessible arteriovenous malformations. Perhaps the most exciting developments in dose optimization are in conformal radiation therapy. The use of radiation therapy and concomitant chemotherapy has been shown to improve survival in some patients with carcinoma of the anus, rectum, and head and neck.
