Salvage of a seriously injured lower limb with a musculo-cutaneous cross-leg flap

Br J Plast Surg. 1982 Jan;35(1):40-2. doi: 10.1016/0007-1226(82)90081-9.

Abstract

A musculo-cutaneous cross-leg flap can improve considerably the blood supply in the recipient limb. It is suggested that the proximal segment of the flap should be inset into the most distal end of the defect to gain the maximum advantage from the enhanced blood supply. A case report is presented to illustrate this point.
