The supply of radiologists: planning for the future

Radiology. 1984 Apr;151(1):253-4. doi: 10.1148/radiology.151.1.6701326.

Abstract

An important national study by the Graduate Medical Education National Advisory Committee (GMENAC) predicts a large oversupply of diagnostic radiologists in 1990. The three radiologist members of the study panel strongly disagree with this conclusion because the estimates of supply are too high. The GMENAC estimate of need for diagnostic radiologists (approximately 20,000) is the best available, and the supply in 1990 will approximate this number.
