Non-A, non-B hepatitis

Semin Liver Dis. 1984 Nov;4(4):314-35. doi: 10.1055/s-2008-1040661.

Abstract

NANB hepatitis, almost certainly a syndrome due to several different viral agents, with different incubation periods and routes of transmission, has emerged as the predominant form of PTH and a major cause of chronic liver disease in developed countries. Pending isolation and characterization of the agents, much of our knowledge remains inferential, and basic virologic studies thus command the highest priority among investigations of this disease.
