Purpose of review: The purpose of this review is to provide an update on emerging literature on the role of the ocular surface microbiome (OSM) in allergic eye diseases.
Recent findings: Findings in the literature suggest that the ocular surface microbiome plays a role in the pathophysiology and course of allergic disease of the ocular surface.
Summary: Knowledge regarding the role of the ocular surface microbiome in allergic disease is important to guide development of targets for future therapeutic interventions.
