Post-irradiation nasal nitric oxide in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Int Forum Allergy Rhinol. 2023 Oct;13(10):1982-1986. doi: 10.1002/alr.23161. Epub 2023 Jun 28.

Abstract

nNO levels decreased at 3 and 6 months and recovered at 12 months after radiotherapy in NPC. nNO may be a feasible biomarker for mucociliary function in post-irradiated NPC patients. Lower nNO levels were associated with more sinonasal burdens in post-irradiated NPC patients.

Keywords: SNOT-22; chronic rhinosinusitis; clearance; mucociliary; nasopharyngeal carcinoma; quality of life.
