Emerging resistance to beta-lactams in Pantoea ananatis isolated from an immunocompetent patient with bacteremia

Diagn Microbiol Infect Dis. 2022 Apr;102(4):115633. doi: 10.1016/j.diagmicrobio.2022.115633. Epub 2022 Jan 15.

Abstract

We observed an emerging resistance to β-lactams in a P. ananatis bacteremia case. Whole genome sequence analysis detected two β-lactamase genes as well as related genes that regulate the β-lactamase genes in the chromosome. The induction experiment resulted in the expression of the class A β-lactamase gene in the isolate.
