Abstract

In Morocco 11.7% of couples are sterile. Even after 3 years the figure is as high as 6%. We have studied in this work 386 cases of tubal sterility which constitute 58.22% of 663 couples who were fully investigated. The mean age of the patients was 29 years. Patients come for assessment late-75% of them after 5 years of sterility. Most of these (54.15%) suffer from primary sterility due to infections acquired before marriage. One-third of all patients have been married more than once, having been divorced because of their sterility. Although tuberculosis is still very frequent in Morocco, not many of our cases were suffering from pelvic tuberculosis. 11% of the patients had had pelvic surgery.
