Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease, characterized by abscess formation and mutilating scar formation in the body folds. The burden of disease is high for both patient and treating physician. In dermatological daily practice, proper patient education and formation of a trustful physician-patient relationship are of highest importance. HS patients are treated both conservatively and surgically mostly by dermatologists, which requires extensive knowledge of the pathogenesis, trigger factors, comorbidities and treatment options. Interdisciplinary collaboration with other disciplines is still underdeveloped. New physical treatments (laser, radiofrequency, intense pulsed light [IPL]), topical and systemic therapies enable good ambulatory long-term management for all HS stages.
Die Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) ist eine chronisch entzündliche Erkrankung, die mit Abszessbildung und mutilierenden Entzündungen mit Narbenbildung in den Körperfalten einhergeht. Der Leidensdruck ist immens und der Betreuungsbedarf hoch. In der dermatologischen ambulanten Betreuung stehen eine gute Aufklärung und die Ausbildung eines vertrauensvollen Arzt-Patienten-Verhältnisses im Vordergrund. HS-Patienten werden sowohl konservativ als auch chirurgisch überwiegend durch Dermatologen betreut, was ein umfassendes Wissen der Pathogenese, Triggerfaktoren, Komorbidität und Therapie voraussetzt. Die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Fachdisziplinen ist noch ausbaufähig. Neue physikalische Verfahren (Laser, Radiofrequenz, IPL [intensiv gepulstes Licht]), Lokal- und Systemtherapien ermöglichen ein gutes ambulantes Langzeitmanagement fast aller HS-Krankheitsstadien.
