Abstract

Heparin-induced thrombocytopaenia describes a prothrombotic state with signiﬁcant rates of thrombus formation. We present a rare case of successful implantation of a HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist device in a patient with active heparin-induced thrombocytopaenia with thrombosis using preoperative plasmapheresis followed by intraoperative prostacyclin administration.
