Abstract

Objective This article is an overview of the creation and development of www.psychopap.com, a website designed to provide psychotherapy-related material to patients and clinicians. This website, unveiled in 2019, is affiliated with the Hôpital en santé mentale Albert-Prévost. Methods To illustrate the pertinence of this initiative, the article briefly reviews current literature on self-therapy and psychotherapy training before presenting the main components of www.psychopap.com. Results Literature shows that psychotherapy is a well-accepted and efficient treatment but that limited resources hinder its use. Self-therapy, mainly delivered through technology, has been described as an interesting way to improve access to psychotherapy for patients. Moreover, technology can also play an important role in psychotherapy training, with many e-programs showing promise. In the light of those results, www.psychopap.com offers self-therapy resources (brochures, infographics) for patients as well as training material for future or budding therapists (introduction guides, testimonials from therapists, videos, lists of textbooks, and courses). Conclusion This article discusses how www.psychopap.com can contribute to the knowledge transfer in order to improve access to psychotherapy for patients and to offer learning possibilities to trainees in psychiatry and other clinicians. In the current healthcare system, innovative ways of delivering and teaching psychotherapy are crucial to improve access.
