[Mediastinal lymphadenectomy in diffuse forms of lung cancer]

Abstract

Radical surgical interventions for spreaded forms of lung cancer were performed in 291 patients. Mediastinal lymphadenectomy was fulfilled in 147 out of these patients. No substantial difference was found between patients with lymphadenectomy and those without it. At the same time a tendency was established to greater amount of 5 year survival in the group of patients with mediastinal lymphadenectomy without metastases into regional lymph nodes. More than 5 year survival was noted in 23.7% of the patients.
