Severe hyponatremia following cyclophosphamide infusion in breast cancer patients

Breast J. 2018 Jul;24(4):691-692. doi: 10.1111/tbj.13026. Epub 2018 Mar 2.

Abstract

Cyclophosphamide is an important component of breast cancer therapy. A less common side effect of cyclophosphamide is hyponatremia. This paper describes two cases of severe hyponatremia with neurologic side effects in breast cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide. Although rare, it is important for physicians to be aware of this side effect and treat accordingly.
