Metabolic PET Imaging in Oncology

Abstract

Objective: In this article, we provide a general overview of how cancer cells subvert critical metabolic pathways to support their growth and unchecked division. Furthermore, we outline how molecular imaging can diagnostically exploit the resulting differences between cancer and normal cells.

Conclusion: Molecular PET can provide valuable information about the metabolic dysregulation in cancer.
