Wire skills for the surgeon - Femoral access safety net and vascular closure devices in transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedures

Multimed Man Cardiothorac Surg. 2016 Dec 14:2016. doi: 10.1510/mmcts.2016.008.

Abstract

Transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedures are widely used to treat patients with aortic stenosis and high surgical risk. Major vascular complications are common and are associated with higher mortality rates. We describe the use of vascular access site closure systems and a safety net to prevent and handle these complications.
