Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact value of preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients.

Methods: The clinical data of 65 patients with resectable pancreatic cancer were analyzed retrospectively. According to preoperative NLR, the patients were divided into high group (NLR ≥ 2.4) and low group (NLR < 2.4). Caner-specific survival was assessed using the Kaplan-Meier method. The 1-year survival rates and the clinic pathological factors in the two groups were analyzed using univariate analysis and COX regression model.

Results: The 1-year survival rate of higher NLR group and lower NLR group was 64.5% and 73.5% respectively, with statistic significance. A high NLR was identified as an independent risk factor of poorer prognosis for patients with pancreatic cancer (RR: 1.465; 95% CI: 1.078-1.993; P = 0.015).

Conclusion: Preoperative NLR can be a clinically significant factor for the assessment of prognosis of Pancreatic Cancer.
