Isolation and purification of two antioxidant peptides from alcalase hydrolysate of Arca subcrenata

Zhong Yao Cai. 2014 Jul;37(7):1140-4.

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the constituents with antioxidant activities from alcalase hydrolysate of Arca subcrenata.

Methods: The consecutive chromatographic methods were employed, including ion-exchange chromatography, gel filtration chromatography, and reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The amino acid sequences of the purified antioxidant peptides were determined by automated Edman degradation.

Results: Under the guidance of the assay of scavenging free radicals, two peptides with antioxidant activities, termed as A-Bg1 and A-Bh, were isolated and purified from the alcalase hydrolysate of Arca subcrenata.

Conclusion: Constituents from the hydrolysate of Arca subcrenata might be a new potential resource of antioxidants.
