C(22)-steroidal lactone glycosides from stems and leaves of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis

Fitoterapia. 2013 Jan:84:248-51. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2012.12.007. Epub 2012 Dec 20.

Abstract

Further phytochemical investigation on the stems and leaves of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis has led to the isolation of three C(22)-steroidal lactone glycosides. Two of these are new compounds, designated as chonglouoside SL-7 (1) and chonglouoside SL-8 (2). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, as well as comparison with the reported spectroscopic data. This is the first report of C(22)-steroidal lactone glycosides isolated from the Paris genus. Compounds 1 and 3 showed moderate antimicrobic activity against Propionibacterium acnes with MIC values of 31.3 and 3.9μg/mL, respectively.
