Orthodontic treatment for adults--dental displacement: a case report

Gen Dent. 2009 Jul-Aug;57(4):e35-40.

Abstract

A growing number of adults are seeking orthodontic treatment. These patients require a different treatment approach than younger patients receive. Treatment of adult patients with dental-skeletal and facial abnormalities is not restricted to surgical correction alone; it also involves dental displacement. This case report illustrates how proper facial analysis and correct diagnosis relates to the planning of orthodontic treatment. In addition, it outlines the importance of informing patients about the risks and benefits of possible treatment modalities.
