The number of reports of laparoscopic hepato-biliary-pancreatic (HBP) surgery has gradually been increasing, however, because of the high degree of proficiency required, these operations have not been widespread. Laparoscopic HBP surgery results in reduced operative blood loss and early recovery comparable with open surgery. Laparoscopic HBP surgery can be performed by experienced surgeons; and thus may be widely performed in the future.
