Stability of hypobromite solutions

Talanta. 1966 May;13(5):715-24. doi: 10.1016/0039-9140(66)80006-1.

Abstract

The stability of hypobromite solutions is governed by such factors as the concentration of hypobromite and hydroxide, light, temperature, and the presence of foreign substances. From a review of the literature it is concluded that it is impossible to obtain perfectly stable solutions. The preparation of more or less stable hypobromite solutions is described, and the dependence of the stability on various factors is determined.
