Quantity as an expression of quality: relationship between serum drug concentrations and quality of life

Ther Drug Monit. 2008 Oct;30(5):557-8. doi: 10.1097/FTD.0b013e318187483d.

Abstract

A recent study has demonstrated an inverse correlation between serum valproic acid concentration in adolescents with epilepsy and quality of life, suggesting that cognitive and behavioral effects of anticonvulsants may significantly impact the life of patients with epilepsy and that intensive therapeutic drug monitoring may have a role in both reducing seizure frequency and improving health-related quality of life.
