Nocardiosis causing pedal actinomycetoma: a case report and review of the literature

J Foot Ankle Surg. 2008 Sep-Oct;47(5):457-62. doi: 10.1053/j.jfas.2008.04.009.

Abstract

Madura foot is rarely encountered in clinical practice in the United States, and a recent review of the biomedical literature revealed only 24 cases reported worldwide since 1981. In this report, we describe the case of a patient who presented with an advanced pedal Nocardia mycetoma. Although this condition is not unheard of, we felt that the rarity of the condition warranted reporting.

Level of clinical evidence: 4.
