Abstract

Respect for others as individuals and as members of diverse groups, and respect for self, are the basis of socially just health care. Respectful action has been exemplified by Robert Humphrey, Sister Madeline Clemence Vaillot, and Florence Nightingale. Respect is the foundation of relationship-based care.
