National medical associations in the world create and regularly update their guidelines for most of diseases stating recommended diagnostic and therapeutic process. Accordance to guidelines for community acquired pneumonia (CAP) decreases inhospital mortality, length of stay, costs of treatment and prevents bacterial resistance. In the paper authors review and summarize worldwide published data focusing on the reasons and the results of a non adherent treatment.
