Significant variations of responsiveness of rat gut smooth muscles to glutamate

Pol J Pharmacol. 2002 Sep-Oct;54(5):507-11.

Abstract

Our four-year study, conducted on isolated rat stomach and rectum strips from adult rats of the same brood in five series, demonstrated for the first time notable variations of the responsiveness of the gut smooth muscles to glutamate, the findings that point to strong variability of glutamate contractile action which could lead to inconsistencies and should be taken into account in the future research.
