Studies on the role of C-reactive protein in coronary atherosclerosis have been presented. It results from the carried out investigations that C-reactive protein may be one of the risk factors of acute coronary syndrome. On the other hand, clinical observations demonstrate, that C-reactive protein concentration in blood serum may be the marker of myocardial necrosis and a prognostic indicator of further course of the disease. Further studies should indicate the importance of C-reactive protein concentration determination in the assessment of risk, clinical course of coronary atherosclerosis and possibility of prognostication.
