Abstract

PIP: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Vietnam Reproductive Health Project in Nghe An Province has progressed considerably since it was launched in 1997. The project is being implemented by the government of Vietnam and JICA with the collaboration of JOICFP, and focuses upon improving the reproductive health (RH) of women through safe and hygienic delivery and the provision of quality maternal and child health and family planning (MCH/FP) services. Program components include renovating and upgrading health centers and training midwives. Vo Thuy Phuong, director of the MCH/FP center, believes that the implementation of the project is well-timed and that it can guide RH activities throughout all of Vietnam. Tran Thi Thien, vice director of the health service, is happy that Japanese expertise is being shared with health care personnel in Vietnam and believes that the project will be successful.
