Abstract

PIP: Some demographic aspects of the family life cycle in contemporary Poland are considered in this paper. The author notes that early marriage, early parenthood, and smaller family size, coupled with increasing longevity, have resulted in an average length of marriage of around 50 years. Of these 50 years, half are spent in the parenthood phase and half in the post-parenthood phase. The progressively younger ages of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents are noted, and the implications for family roles are discussed. (summary in ENG)
