Abstract

The authors describe longer than two-year experience with the use of permanent intracanalicular silicone plugs in the treatment of the dry eye syndrome. Between August 1997 and November 1999 the authors selected by means of the test with dissolvable collagen plugs 50 patients to whom permanent silicone intracanalicular plugs were inserted. During the follow up period (1-28 months) no complications were recorded associated with the insertion of permanent intracanalicular silicone plugs.
