[Hip stabilizer "Zespol" in the treatment of the femoral neck fractures by the Tylman method]

Abstract

Zespol hip fixator was used in Tylman treatment for neck of the femur fracture in 15 patients aged 18-64 (mean 49 years). There were 11 Garden IV type and 4 Garden III type fractures. The technique of fixator implantation from posterior approach has been presented. According to the criteria established by Scientific Committee of the XXVII Congress of Polish Orthopedic and Traumatologic Society functional results were rated good in 11 cases and satisfactory in 4. Radiological results were good in 10 cases, satisfactory in 3 and poor in 2 (nonunion in one patient, avascular necrosis of the femoral head in the second patient).
