Universal access to health care would alter hospital planning

Health Care Strateg Manage. 1992 Mar;10(3):13-5.

Abstract

What would be the impact on hospitals of a federally mandated plan for universal access to health care? The author suggests that it could lead to fundamental changes in planning, marketing, patient mix and reimbursement patterns, especially considering that the uninsured population is larger in size, and less homogenous, than those receiving Medicare or Medicaid benefits.
